My latest creation for a contest. I find that if I am challenged by a contest where I can win something, I do better about being detailed oriented and making the layout complete. I like this one! There is journaling on the bottom of page 2 that reads, "These are some of the best photos I've taken of my Morgie Pie. At the time these were taken, 11/14/04, you were a few weeks from walking, and a week shy of 10 months. I propped you up agains the tree which we both thought was pretty funny. You liked crawling through the leaves too. This was a fun afternoon."

My latest ebay scrapbook layout - I am obsessed with the zoo!

I changed the background to my original yellow. It goes better with the "quilted" blue sea. I had it backwards before and that's why it didn't work, Sabrina. The sea needed to be seen first, not the beach! I like this better. You should try doing contests and stuff like this too. It helps to inspire you, and who knows, maybe you'll win! You can scan your layout at my house, of course. I scan and then I stitch with the photoshop program. You can't even tell on this layout, or LO, in scrapbooker terms! :)

My latest layout - I entered it into a contest requiring the use of a certain brand of patterned paper - see scrapbookplayground.com and the flair designs contest - It isn't my favorite, but I am satisfied. Morgan allows me less and less time to create. She wakes up when I wake up, and wants to stay up at night as well. When she takes her afternoon nap, I need to take advantage of that time to get work done, which leaves little time for me. But I did get this one done before the deadline, so I get a small pat on the back. :)

I didn't think we needed a plumber to build Morgan's swingset, but she had other ideas.........

Bean and me. Too bad I'm as blind as a bat without my sunglasses. I should have taken them off so you could see my ibles.

Thinking of October 1

Experience the phenomenon. Visually stunning, technically astounding and with a musical score like none other you've ever heard. Giraffes strut, birds swoop, gazelles leap. The entire savannah comes to life and as the music soars, Pride Rock slowly emerges from the mist. See the Tony Award-winning Broadway sensation that Newsweek calls "a landmark event in entertainment." The New York Times says, "There is simply nothing else like it." Marvel at the breathtaking spectacle of animals brought to life by a cast of more than 40 actors. Wonder at the inspiration of award-winning director Julie Taymor, who created visual images for this show that you'll remember forever. Thrill to the pulsating rhythms of the African Pridelands and an unforgettable score including Elton John and Tim Rice's Oscar winning song "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" and "Circle of Life."

Helping daddy fly a kite!

It was such a nice day that the wind wasn't quite blowing hard enough to fly our kite! Morgan couldn't understand why she couldn't hold on to it the whole time....

In the water. We could barely keep her out!

Sand!

Some beach photos! I wish this one had been more clear. It reminds me of our hawaii pictures when we were young, only this time it's Morgan that looks funny. She's really slouching and sticking out that belly button!

Fill up her pool and she'll end up in the dog dish every time

Here's my little sand baby

My latest layout. I have my Ultrasound results in a pocket on the right hand side. The little book on the lower left of the right side page has my pregnancy journaling.... I like how this turned out!

Rose Festival

That was a fun weekend at the Rose Festival! I am glad it's a family tradition. It's great to watch Grammabon kick some dragon tushie, great to watch a great big parade, and some day, we'll get there early enough to enjoy the carnival as well. I like having something in the Portland area that is an annual tradition for my family. That was great fun!

Steve will cut back on the PBR's next year and have more fun, poor guy. He was glad to finally see Mom race, though. It was worth it!

More photos later. Again, I use my Canon for most of my photo taking. Gotta get those developed!

Morgan and her baaaaaaahhh oooons.

Good job Mom!

What a sweet photo. Uncle Steve took that photo while the girls went off to watch the races.

Off to the beach!

We just came home from a fabulous weekend at the coast. We stayed at Cape Lookout State Park, which is near Netarts/Tillamook on the Northern Oregon Coast. We loaded up our trustee camper, tossed in the dog and the bab, and headed on out. The drive over was great. Friday afternoon was sunny and warm, with only a few clouds in the sky, so we dashed down to the beach to build sandcastles for Morgan to knock over, to watch hangliders taking off nearby, sometimes 10 at a time, which was neat, to dip our toes in the freshwater stream that emptied into the ocean nearby, and to generally have a great afternoon. Morgan was in heaven. She LOVED the sand, and only tried to eat it when it was adhered to a snack. She loved digging with Cooper, and demoloshing daddy's sandcastles too. Then Cooper discovered the stream, with Morgan following closely behind, and she spent the rest of the afternoon soaked to her soggy bottom. She LOVED dashing into the ocean, much to her daddy's dismay. Our girl has no fear, and had no problem investigating the high seas. We had to be close by to pick her up when the waves came in, because she'd either copy her brother and sit down, or get knocked over, and we were doing our best to keep PART of her little body dry. Steve would haul her out of the ocean, and then run up the beach and set her down again. The minute her piggies hit the sand, she'd make a beeline for the saltwater. I think he did this for a good 20 minutes before mom and dad were finished and ready to head back to camp. Morgan could have stayed out there all day.
Friday night we had Pine Creek stew fore dinner, Saturday morning we had a nice early breakfast, and then it was back to the beach. Our camping spot, number C15, was set back in the trees in case we had high winds and heavy rains. Then there was a small hump, and the beach was right there. You can't get any closer!
Saturday was not quite as nice as Friday, but still okay with us. We played on the beach some more, hiked around quite a bit, and then headed back to camp and lunch followed by a little nap. It was a little tricky, so we all ended up taking a siesta, because Morgan was starting to get a little grumpy. She was having so much fun that our little lambchop was wearing herself out!
After naps we headed back to the surf for some more play. The hangliders were back, so we watched them for a while and played with Cooper and his chuckit, a coastal must-have. Saturday evening ended the same, except this time, after playing in the ocean for a while, Morgan started to have a regular fit. She didn't want me to hold her, and she didn't want to run in the ocean, so we could only surmise that she was cold. We bundled her up and headed in for a hot shower. The facilities were fabulous, with our own little room with a locking door, so Morgan could run around and not hurt herself on anything, nor could she get out. It was a great shower. After I was done, I had to keep the shower running for another 15 minutes because she was enjoying herself so much. She'd never showered before, and was liking the new experience. It revived her well enough, and we headed to camp salt free, albeit with a few remaining specks of sand STILL in her hair.
Saturday night it DUMPED rain. I felt bad for anyone in a tent, which included our next door camper, who also had a 4 month old baby! I never heard a peep from them, and they were still there in the morning, so survived well enough. Sunday was gloomy, which was just fine by us, because all we needed to do was eat breakfast, wind up the jacks, through in the stroller, and drive away.
We had a great time, Morgan had a blast, the weather was nice, and, after $22 in lodging, and $75 in diesel, we had a rather inexpensive coastal trip. Good for us!

This is a really bad editing job that's actually kinda funny. I took a photo of Steve and Morgan, and then he came over and took a photo of me. Hee Hee! Cape Lookout, 2005 - More later. Most of the other 4 rolls of film were taken with my Canon. One more reason to get the digital rebel! It just takes better photos!

Our very own ugly house!

It looks like we bought a new ugly house! We just signed some paperwork and put down some earnest money. At this point, the only one who can back out of the deal is us. Lucky us? Steve got a hold of the last appraisal, and it shows the value of the property at $231,000, in 1996! I think they listed the house far under it's worth, which is great big kudos for us. Since the seller wants 120 days before we can take possession, then an additional 60 to get their things out of the storage building, in a sense, the house will appreciate for 4-6 months without us having to pay for it. More $$ for us! Moves us even closer to having enough equity for a nice fat renovation.

So, it looks like 10/1 we will get access to our new hacienda, where we will be mad with paint, cleansing cloths, and industrial cleaner, so that it is up to par and safe to move into. Then Matt and Sabrina can move the Merritt's into our old pad, a bigger pad for them! Their dogs should be in heaven.

Congrats to us!

Alyca's layout from the first assignment. I guess we now have two assignments. Sabrina and I had better get to work!

If you haven't already started, I'd like to change our project to the following map. Once you've finished your layout, we will submit it to the scrapbook site it's listed at in a monthly contest. Here's the instructions:

January 2006 Instructions: Make room for just 5 photos on this “airy” layout with plenty of visual breathing space. There is ample room for journaling on both pages, including a title which can be placed along the left side of the large block that spans across both pages. Due July 15, 2005.

Morgan brushes her own teeth while Mama takes a shower. She also holds the fluoride bottle. What a big girl!

View of the mountain and our pond from the front yard. There is the street on the other side of the pond, and the fence is for another property.

This is the view from the deck upstairs. Obviously, the addition would go to the right to get that mountain. Our pond is at the front edge of the property, and that little bit of a house you can see under the mountain is perched on the canyon. The canyon wraps around, and there is a field to the right separating our property from the edge. Maybe someday we can buy it!
